Anniversary!

四川成都（2013年6月5日）--十年前的今天，成都城市河流研究会（简称河研会）于世界环境日注册为民政部属下的民间公益环保机构。从2003至2013年，我们非常高兴和自豪，能走过这十年，更感到荣幸的是有这么多专家、伙伴在过去的十年里与我们一直同行，并坚持至今。

CHENGDU,
China (June 5, 2013)– Ten years ago today, on World Environment Day,
Chengdu Urban Rivers Association (CURA) registered with the Ministry of Civil
Affairs as a non-profit, non-governmental organization. We are pleased to
celebrate our 10[sup]th[/sup] Anniversary in 2013, and most honored to have had
various experts and partners support our work over the last ten
years.



从2003年组织大批志愿者进行河水污染源调查，了解到农村面源污染已成为成都水环境重大污染源，到在郫县安龙村的八年实践，“可持续乡村模式”是河研会一直以来的长期项目。设计、建设、完善“可持续乡村模式”是河研会的一大工作领域，它推动着我们在四川境内的长江上游创建河流保护带，完成河研会主动不污保护河流的使命。

From
the initial surveys that determined non-point-source rural pollution as a major
source of Chengdu’s continued water pollution, to eight years of field work at
Anlong Village, the Sustainable Village Model has been CURA’s long-term project.
Designing, constructing, and refining the model is an important area of work for
CURA, as we seek to create protection belts along all rivers in Sichuan, and the
upper reaches of the
Yangtze.



除了在主要的工作领域取得突破，河研会在过去十年里也积极地对四川的大小事件作出回应。从2005年至2007年，河研会组织社会力量，反对成都水源地--柏条河--的水电开发工程。在2008年，河研会在第一时间联络其它机构，共同发起四川5·12民间救助中心，承担抗震救灾协调工作。而在2009—2011年，河研会围绕成都西郊河“加盖”事件，组织了“西郊河保卫战”，成功地说服政府停止西郊河的“加盖”工程。这一切工作能顺利展开，是因为有专家团队、志愿者、热心公众的参与。我们再次感谢您对河研会的支持。

In
addition to making progress along our main line of work, CURA has responded
actively to events in Chengdu and Sichuan. From 2005 to 2007, CURA organized a
successful campaign to stop the development of hydropower along the Botiao
River. In 2008, CURA acted as a vital command post in disaster relief efforts,
following the devastating Sichuan earthquake of May 12. Over two years starting
in 2009, CURA was also instrumental in preventing the construction of a road
over the Xijiao River in Chengdu. All these achievements would not have been
possible without our team of experts, volunteers, and members of the public.

为了回顾十年的河流保护、可持续发展的工作，河研会将于即日起展开一系列十周年活动，直至2013年年底。活动将包括“我为河流做体检”、“安龙导览”、以及“水保护基金”的募捐与启动。我们期待您的持续参与。

To
celebrate ten years of work in river protection and sustainable development,
CURA will organize a series of activities from now until the end of this year,
which includes ‘Rivers Tours’, visits to Anlong Village, and fundraising
activities that will enable CURA to launch its ‘River Protection Fund.’ We look
forward to your continued
participation.
