WWF, the global conservation organization that has been working in China for 27 years, is looking for a highly skilled professional to be a Species Programme Officer for the Conservation Strategy in WWF China Programme Office to be based in Beijing.
This position will report to the Species Programme Director.
Species Programme Officer-Small grant fund management
Major Function:
Manage the Small Grants Fund for China Wildlife Conservation to ensure its sustainability and the effective implementation of project activities.
Support other species related issues in the Species Programme
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
In cooperation with relevant WWF staff, develop and implement a strategic plan for Small Grants Fund for China Wildlife Conservation;
Cooperate closely with other team members of Species Programme and Finance Unit; work as needed with other CPO staff on species conservation related issues;
Manage and monitor Small Grants projects, following up and expand the on-site project network that WWF has established;
Develop Smalls Grant project annual work plan and budget and responsible for its implementation based on the project strategy plan and its logframe;
Manage and monitoring Small Grants contracted projects with coordination of project staff of Species Programme and Finance Unit, which including third-party contract preparation and its implementation;
Provide timely technical reports as required: quarterly donor report and biannual WWF report;
Edit and distribute biannual newsletter to communicate project progress to the public; contribute project highlights to donor newsletters
Support Programme and CPO communication work through liaison with related communication staff;
Maintain frequent and timely communication with Project, Programme, partners and donors;
Maintain project documentation and database for Small Grants supported projects, which will serve as an information source for WWF family;
Strengthen the partnership between the WWF CPO and local partners at various levels, as well as with local forestry units;
Keep close and effective communication with donors related to the project progress and co-organize communication activities with donors; fundraise from potential donors with the coordination of Marketing Department
Fulfill other species related works required by Species Program Director.
Qualifications Required:
Master’s degree preferably in the fields of biology, ecology, environment or conservation sciences.
At least 3 years experiences in conservation extension work. International project management experiences are preferred
Commitment in biodiversity conservation and NGO development; familiarly with participatory working approach and skills in rural development and conflict management experiences.
Fluent English essential
Good personality and communication skills.
Willing to field travel periodically.
