Preservation Programs Supported Worldwide
Tourism Cares
Tourism Cares is a nonprofit charity, supported primarily by the tourism industry, that brings people together to "give back" through grants to cultural and historic sites worldwide, through scholarships to college and graduate students studying hospitality and tourism, and through volunteering to restore historic sites in need of care and rejuvenation. The Tourism Cares Worldwide Grant Program provides support to tourism-related nonprofit organizations throughout the world. Primary consideration is given to projects that focus on capital improvements that conserve, preserve, or restore sites of exceptional cultural, historic, or natural significance. An additional focus area is the education of local host communities and the traveling public about preservation of sites of exceptional significance. The program strives for a balanced distribution of grants to
U.S.
and non-U.S. recipients. The final letter of inquiry deadline for 2007 is October 1. Visit the website listed above for detailed instructions for submitting a Letter of Inquiry Packet.
