Oxfam Hong Kong is a member of Oxfam International and an independent development and relief agency based in Hong Kong working with poor and disadvantaged people in Asia and Africa. We are recruiting the following member to join us in our anti-poverty work:
Program Officer-- China’s International Development--China Unit
(Based in Bei Jing , 3-year contract)
The Program Officer is a member of the PEPC Team of the China Unit, and reports to the PEPC Manager. S/he is expected to work closely and collaborate with other PEPC members, other teams of Oxfam Hong Kong (OHK), as well as Oxfam International and Affiliates.
Responsibilities:
1. To develop overall strategies for the COD work, together with other concerned fellow colleagues, teams and units of OHK;
2. To deliver the agreed strategies and operation plans with fellow colleague(s);
3. To conduct research on COD issues;
4. To build and consolidate relationship and/or partnerships with government departments, enterprises, think tanks, researchers and civil society organizations, as required by the operation plans;
5. To coordinate the priorities and concerted efforts among relevant units in OHK and Oxfam International and Affiliates through proactive and effective communications;
6. To provide support for policy initiatives of OHK’s partners in China, as well as in programme-covered countries;
7. To undertake any duties, as appropriate to the post, as delegated by the line-manager.
Requirements:
1. Work experiences with high-level national government departments and affiliates is important;
2. Work experiences in Chinese/international civil society organizations and/or Chinese corporations (eg state-owned enterprises and/or small-to-medium sized companies) is an asset;
3. Preferably Master-and-above degree in international relations, political economy, development studies, or other related social sciences
4. Demonstrated knowledge of and identification with the values of OHK;
5. Strong knowledge in COD issues;
6. Good knowledge about private sector mechanisms and process;
7. Basic knowledge about the civil society and non-profit sector in China;
8. Strategic thinking and analytical skills;
9. Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills;
10. Advanced command of English and Chinese (Mandarin) use;
11. Ability to work both in team and independently with merely general instructions,
12. Proficient skills in Microsoft office applications
13. Ability to work under pressure and meeting deadlines
14. Ability to travel frequently as required
No expatriate package for the position.
