Dear friends,
My name is Yaping Wang and I’m working with Earth Day Network’s China Program. I’m a Chinese, born and raised in Beijing and currently assisting in developing and implementing civic and environmental education programs as well as organizing Earth Day 2006 events throughout China.
Founded by the organizers of the first Earth Day in 1970, Earth Day Network (EDN) promotes environmental citizenship and year round progressive action worldwide. Through Earth Day Network, activists connect, interact, and impact their communities, and create positive change in local, national, and global policies. Based in Washington DC in the U.S., EDN reaches over 12,000 organizations in 174 countries.
Earth Day Network in China
Now EDN is planning to expand its network of organizations in China. Capitalizing on a ten-year successful history of working in China with partners like Global Village Beijing and others, Earth Day Network (EDN) is launching a three-year campaign in China to promote the local participation on environment protection.
Earth day 2006
At the moment, our most important up-and-coming event is Earth Day 2006. This year, Earth Day Network’s theme is Solutions to Global Climate Change. On Earth Day, April 22nd, we will call on governments, corporations, faith-based organizations, and people of all regions to work with us to find and work on solutions to climate change.
Thousands of major Earth Day events will take place around the world, in communities large and small, in classrooms, in parks and on beaches, and in places of worship. From Kiev to Beijing, from India to Romania, and from Africa to the Americas, we will demonstrate solutions to climate change. We hope you will be part of this global effort.
Benefits to Earth Day Network Partners
Although Earth Day is a very important part of our annual calendar, Earth Day Network’s work goes on all year. We continuously work with our network members on our global and regional programs, and provide them with materials and resources to use in their own work. We also help our network partners communicate with each other, so that they can learn from each other’s experience.
When you join the network, you will:
Receive information in Chinese from Earth Day Network about upcoming events, new programs and activities, as well as tools and resources you may find useful;
Receive listserve emails in Chinese with important information and resources about environmental issues, events and activities;
Gain access to new ways to promote your organization and/or your Earth Day events to the public; and
Learn about collaboration opportunities with other registered organizations.
Become Part of our Network!
We hope that you will become part of Earth Day Network. Together, we can make a difference! To join the network, please email your contact details to me, or visit our registration page, at http://www.earthday.net/involved ... rthdayNetwork.aspx. We are doing our best to translate our webpage into Chinese, so more Chinese pages are coming up! We hope to hear from you soon!
Best regards,
Yaping Wang
