WWF, the conservation organization with 25 years of experience in China, is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team
Position: ABC Skin Trade Project Officer, WWF China Tibet Prgramme.To be based in Lhasa Office, Tibet.
This position will report to Senior Programme Officer-Head of Tibetan Programme Office. The job holder will assist Programme Head to develop and implement conservation projects to curb Asian big cat (ABC) skin market in Tibetan communities in China.
Main Responsibilities:
Coordinate all trade project and activities; liaison with related people and organizations internally and externally for implementing ABC projects;
Develop and design new projects and activities with support of Tibet program coordinator; and take responsibilities for primary proposal development;
Develop communication information( for sharing and fundraising) with local partners, donors, media, local people and other NGOs as well; Meanwhile, updating donors, partners, media on program progress & achievements timely;
Develop education materials( in Tibetan, Chinese & English);and coordinate & work with religious bodies, education department, schools in public education and environmental education;
Coordinate and work with media( both local and national) and government enforcement bodies to strengthen and improve enforcement and policy maker( both individual and institutions) to update & introduce new policies on ABC market and trade. Also with celebrities to promote an ambassador for the illegal trade, market and consumption;
Attend WWF’s meetings, workshop, trainings and other events as requested.
Working Relationships:
Internal: daily contact with WWF staff and offices in otherTibetan communities to develop and implement ABC projects; work on WWF’s Chang Tang programme as requested;
External: regular contact with TRAFFIC, donors, media and partners.
Requirements:
At least 3 years work experience in NGO; or government offices; Tibetan communities;
Solid experience in coordination, negotiation, proposal development & event oganization;
Proven experience in project& programme design and implementation; and media as well;
Language requirement: excellent Tibetan, English( writing and speaking) and mandarin( Chinese);
Excellent skills in developing communications & education materials;
Ability to work as a team with other members; and very good interpersonal skills; and could work under pressure as well.
