The Green Union of WUST
Brief introductions:
The Green Union (GU) of Wuhan University of Science & Technology (WUST), formerly known as " Environmental Protection Volunteers Association of College of Urban Construction, WUST” was founded in April 28, 2002.On June 5, 2003, with the approval of College Committee of the Communist Youth League, it was changed into the present name to meet the needs of its rapid development. Holding the belief “Separated, we can achieve little; united, we can save earth”, and carrying forward the spirit"Cultivating our minds on the environment and broadening our minds on the nature", GU has held various activities in order to advance its slogan "Green life, environmental protection" and achieve its purposes of “Establishing images of green campus; Strengthening awareness of environmental protection”. Experienced countless winds and rains over the past 8 years, GU has developed into an association of great vitality. Based firmly on the campus while keeping in view of the outside world, it has organized a wide range of activities to enhance ecology conservation and promote environment protection. GU advocates behaviors of environmental protection, cultivates green consciousness, and popularizes the conceptions of green civilization, ecological environment and sustainable development, all of which reflect the spiritual outlook of modern college students: they are not only greatly concerned with social problems, but also quite ready to shoulder the responsibility of protecting the environment. Since its establishment, under the joint efforts of all the members and with the support of the leaders, Green Union has kept forging ahead in an innovative way and made outstanding achievements. Wining great recognition and praises,it was spoken highly of by the university, College Committee of the Communist Youth League and Wuhan Environmental Protection Bureau. Up to now, not only is it one of the most prestigious student associations in WUST, but also it gains great reputation and influence among the college environmental protection organizations in Hubei and around the whole country.
