Communication Officer (Beijing)-- China for a Global Shift Initiative Programme
Mission of the Initiative:
Over the past 30 years of reform and opening to the outside world, China has become one of the largest economies on earth and the way it develops will significantly shape the future of the global economy. The Chinese government has recently set out ambitious targets for improved resource efficiency and sustainability. This brings about an unprecedented opportunity for the global community to support and influence the way in which China implements these goals.The China for a Global Shift Initiative (the Initative) is WWF’s response to this opportunity. This global initiative strives to work with China and its partner countries to show how economic development and an increased quality of life can be achieved within the ecological limits of one planet, while allowing space for developing countries to grow.
Principal Functions:
Contribute to the further development and roll-out of the communications strategy for the China for a Global Shift Initiative Responsible for the implementation of the communications strategy focusing particularly on China together with partners, thematic, field and communication staff and in collaboration with the WWF networkResponsible for ensuring effective communications engagement and collaboration between the key conservation programmes of WWF China and China for a Global Shift related global programmes/offices.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Engage target audiences, with a focus on Chinese speaking audiences and increase awareness of China for a Global Shift issues Bridge geographic and linguistic differences when engaging with target audiencesDevelop and implement the communication activities together with partners, thematic and field personnel and in collaboration with the WWF network as appropriateBuild and maintain communications networks with key stakeholders on related conservation issues, in cooperation with the communications teamDevelop communications materials to provide regular updates on progress and relevant policy issues to Chinese audiences, partner countries and the WWF Network as appropriatePrepare news, statements, Q&A, fact sheets about the Initiative both in English and in ChineseContribute information to WWF websites relating to the Initiative and develop new online tools as appropriateDesign and organize communications events, activities, and campaigns for the InitiativeMonitor information related to the Initiative, such as collection and filing of video, slides, photos and media coverage, and distribute them promptly to allow follow up as neededFulfill other programme related tasks as required by the supervisor and WWF China.
Working RelationshipsInternal:
Work closely with the Communications Manager, Initiative Leader and other staff of the Initiative as well as with the Communications Department and teams in WWF China offices; regular contact with WWF Network communication teams in related programme offices, and with staff in other programmes as needed. External:Regular contact with donors, partners, communications agencies, mostly in China, and others as required.
Qualifications:
An advanced university degree in a relevant disciplineAt least three years work in the communications fieldExperience on communicating about sustainability highly preferableCreative, proactive, innovative and result-oriented personality with good communication skillsExcellent English writing, speaking and reading skillsExcellent Chinese writing skillsPositive attitude and good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team to achieve common goals, ability to work hard and meet deadlinesWillingness to update professional knowledge and skillsBelieves in WWF values, which are: passionate, optimistic, challenging, inspiring, credible, accountable, persevering and delivering results  Candidates should send a cover letter, CV in English and Chinese to hr@wwfchina.orgPlease indicate the applying position in title, salary expectation and send them in attachment.
