WWF, the global conservation organization that has been working in China for 30 years, is looking for a highly skilled professional to be Species programme coordinator for WWF China Office to be based in Chengdu. This position will report to Species Programme Senior Officer of Chengdu Programme Office and cooperate with staff from related departments and programme officers within WWF CPO.
Species programme coordinator (Chengdu)– 物种项目协调员(成都)
Main Function:
To assist the Species Programme Senior Officer in the planning, implementation, management and monitoring of the species programme and activities (especially those activities related to community-based conservation, alternative livelihood, Traditional Chinese Medicinal plants sustainable management, sustainable energy, collective forest management, environment education etc.) in Chengdu office and ensure the good communication on programme progress with colleagues, relevant field offices, Beijing office and donors as well.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. To coordinate the preparation of workplans and budget of speices programme;
2. To coordinate the preparation of technical progress reports and other reports of species programme as required;
3. To coordinate the relationship between species programme and the partners including governmental partners;
4. To make field trips to project areas to identify the suitable activities and to monitor and evaluate the ongoing activities;
5. To review and evaluate the proposals;.
6. To manage the 3-party contracts;
7. To keep the colleagues and donors updated of the species programme progress through emails, reports, stories and other written materials;
8. To ensure the delivery of yearly targets assigned by the senior officer;
9. To undertake such other tasks as may be assigned by the head of Chengdu office.
Qualification:
l At least 3 years’ working experience;
l Ability to work independently and complete tasks under strict deadlines
l Flexibility to travel frequently to the project area (nature reserves, forest farms or villages)
l English language with good verbal and academic written skills
l Good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
l A Bachelors or Masters Degree in forestry, botany, or social sciences.
