Future Generations is a worldwide alliance oforganizations promoting community-led development work in Afghanistan,China, India and Peru.

Future GenerationsChina has enjoyed 25 years of work in China that includes establishingthe Qomolangma/Mt Everest National Nature Preserve, the Pendeba Programof community-based health and income development, the Lhalu WetlandsNational Preserve in Lhasa City, and the launch of the Green LongMarch, one of China’s largest youth conservation movements thatmobilizes university students across the nation to participate incommunity-based sustainable development work.

FutureGenerations China builds leadership capacity among university youth,government, and communities to sustain ecosystem services and ensuresustainable livelihoods. Our work focuses on the following:

·          Researchingand extending China’s environmental successes through the Green LongMarch, a nationwide program that trains university youth to identify environmental solutions and extend them to more communities

·          Engaging university, business, and civil society partners to train a national alliance of conservation and community service workers

·          Creating a China Master’s Degree program in Applied Community Change and Conservation based on the FutureGenerations Graduate School model in the United States. This program will be designed for Protected Area Managers and TuanWuei leaders working to link nature preserve management with community involvement

Job Opportunity 1:

Position Title: Model Eco-Community Project Coordinator

Location:    Hunan

Position Summary:

The Program Coordinatorwill be responsible for the overall running of the Model Eco-CommunityProject in Hunan Province. The Program Coordinator will also developand maintain relationships with local implementing partners andcoordinate various parties in the community to achieve projectobjectives.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1)        Work with FutureGenerations China Program Team to develop project proposals;

2)        Be responsible for Model Eco-Community project planning, implementation and reporting;

3)        Coordinatewith project partners on the technical and logistical aspects andprovide updates to the Deputy Director in Beijing Office;

4)        Liaiseand network with partners, including government, private sector, andindividuals, as well as other like-minded NGOs for projectimplementation and outreach objectives;

5)        Produce high quality and timely reports on activities, finances and other areas as required;

6)        Perform other coordination tasks as requested by the Deputy Director;

Qualifications:

·        Master’s degree in environmental science, community development, social science, business management is preferred;

·        Minimumthree years work experience required, preferably in communitydevelopment for international environmental organizations, developmentNGOs or related governmental organizations;

·        Candidate should demonstrate an understanding of rural development and environmental conservation in China;

·        Strong project management skills including design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, data collection, and documentation;

·        Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and groups and facilitate exchanges and communication between them;

·        Fluency in oral English and Mandarin; excellent English and Chinese writing skills;

·        Strong initiative and ability to solve problems

·        Attentionto detail and capacity to meet deadlines, positive attitude and goodinterpersonal skills, ability to work in a team and achieve common goals

·        Local resident is preferred.

Job Opportunity 2:

Position Title: Model Eco-Community Project Assistant

Location:       Hunan

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1)      Assist Model Eco-Community Project Coordinator to develop project proposals;

2)      Assist Model Eco-Community Project Coordinator with project planning, implementation and reporting;

3)      Perform administrative duties in the field office;

4)      Keep daily records of program expenses and provide monthly financial updates to the Beijing office;

5)      Perform other tasks as requested by the Project Coordinator of Model Eco-Community;

Qualifications:

·        Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, community development, social science or business management is preferred;

·        Mandarin fluency and intermediate English abilities

·        Patience and integrity;

·        Strong initiative and ability to solve problems

·        Attentionto detail and capacity to meet deadlines, positive attitude and goodinterpersonal skills, ability to work in a team and achieve common goals

·        Local resident is preferred.

Job Opportunity 3:

Position Title: Pendeba Program Project Associate

Location:      Tibet

Position Summary:

The Program Associatewill work closely with the Program Coordinator and other staff inTibet. Primary responsibilities include managing and coordinating theprojects undertaken in QNNP. The Program Associate will be responsiblefor the planning, execution, and management of the community trainingand other development projects as well as maintaining relationships andcoordinating with local implementing partners and communities toachieve project objectives. The Program Associate will also beresponsible for supporting outreach and communication activities asrequired for the Pendeba projects.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1)      Develop and plan proper project components that are in line with the Pendeba Program’s overall approaches and objectives;

2)      Help implement and manage training and other community development projects in QNNP;

3)      Coordinate with project partners and training organizations on the technical and logistical aspects;

4)      Conductprimary and secondary research on sustainable rural development,environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, climate changeadaptation for the Pendeba Program;

5)      Liaiseand network with partners, including government, private sector, andindividuals, as well as other like-minded NGOs for projectimplementation and outreach objectives;

6)      Produce high quality and timely reports on activities, finances and other areas as required;

7)      To undertake any other tasks, as appropriate to the post, assigned by the  Project Coordinator of Pendeba Program

Qualifications:

·        Master’s degree in environmental science, community development, social science, business management is preferred;

·        Minimumtwo years work experience required, preferably in community developmentfor international environmental organizations, development NGOs orrelated governmental organizations;

·        Candidateshould demonstrate an understanding of rural development andenvironmental conservation in China, preferably related to the Tibetanregions;

·        Strong project management skills including design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, data collection, and documentation;

·        Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and groups and facilitate exchanges and communication between them;
