There are 100 Rotary Peace Fellowships offered by Rotary International to undertake master’s degree or professional development certificate fellowships. The master’s degree can be in the field of international relations, public administration, sustainable development, peace studies, conflict resolution or related and the professional development certificate in peace and conflict resolution. The fellowships will be offered competitively at either of “the six Rotary Peace Centers, which operate in partnership with seven leading universities (centers offer master’s degree unless noted otherwise):
[li]Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand (professional development center) [li]Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA [li]International Christian University, Tokyo, Japan [li]Universidad del Salvador, Buenos Aires, Argentina [li]University of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England [li]University of California, Berkeley, USA (NOTE: The Rotary Foundation Trustees will no longer be accepting applications for this program after the 2009-11 class.) [li]University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia”[/li]
The eligibility criteria to apply for these fellowships include:
[li]A strong commitment to international understanding and peace demonstrated through professional and academic achievements and personal and community service activities [li]A bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience as a minimum, with strong academic achievement [li]A minimum of three years’ combined paid or unpaid full-time relevant work experience (master’s degree) or five years’ relevant work experience with current full-time employment in a mid- to upper-level position (professional development certificate) [li]Proficiency in a second language (master’s degree) or in English (professional development certificate) [li]Strong leadership skills[/li]
To apply for the fellowships, applicants should first submit applications to their local Rotary Clubs. Following this, the local clubs will conduct interviews and make selections and forward the endorsements to the district-level clubs. There will be further selections made at the district level and then forward to the Rotary Foundation, which makes the final screening of applications in collaboration with Rotary Peace Centers.
