Future Generations is a worldwide alliance of organizations promoting community-led development work in Afghanistan, China, India and Peru.
Future Generations China has enjoyed 25 years of work in China that includes establishing the Qomolangma/Mt Everest National Nature Preserve, the Pendeba Program of community-based health and income development, the Lhalu Wetlands National Preserve in Lhasa City, and the launch of the Green Long March, one of China’s largest youth conservation movements that mobilizes university students across the nation to participate in community-based sustainable development work.
Future Generations China builds leadership capacity among university youth, government, and communities to sustain ecosystem services and ensure sustainable livelihoods. Our work focuses on the following:
· Researching and extending China’s environmental successes through the Green Long March, a nationwide program that trains university youth to identify environmental solutions and extend them to more communities
· Engaging university, business, and civil society partners to train a national alliance of conservation and community service workers
· Creating a China Master’s Degree program in Applied Community Change and Conservation based on the FutureGenerations Graduate School model in the United States. This program will be designed for Protected Area Managers and TuanWuei leaders working to link nature preserve management with community involvement
Job Opportunity 1:
Position Title: Model Eco-Community Project Coordinator
Location: Hunan
Position Summary:
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the overall running of the Model Eco-Community Project in Hunan Province. The Program Coordinator will also develop and maintain relationships with local implementing partners and coordinate various parties in the community to achieve project objectives.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Work with FutureGenerations China Program Team to develop project proposals;
2) Be responsible for Model Eco-Community project planning, implementation and reporting;
3) Coordinate with project partners on the technical and logistical aspects and provide updates to the Deputy Director in Beijing Office;
4) Liaise and network with partners, including government, private sector, and individuals, as well as other like-minded NGOs for project implementation and outreach objectives;
5) Produce high quality and timely reports on activities, finances and other areas as required;
6) Perform other coordination tasks as requested by the Deputy Director;
Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in environmental science, community development, social science, business management is preferred;
· Minimum three years work experience required, preferably in community development for international environmental organizations, development NGOs or related governmental organizations;
· Candidate should demonstrate an understanding of rural development and environmental conservation in China;
· Strong project management skills including design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, data collection, and documentation;
· Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and groups and facilitate exchanges and communication between them;
· Fluency in oral English and Mandarin; excellent English and Chinese writing skills;
· Strong initiative and ability to solve problems

Position Title: Pendeba Program Project Associate
Location: Tibet
Position Summary:
The Program Associate will work closely with the Program Coordinator and other staff in Tibet. Primary responsibilities include managing and coordinating the projects undertaken in QNNP. The Program Associate will be responsible for the planning, execution, and management of the community training and other development projects as well as maintaining relationships and coordinating with local implementing partners and communities to achieve project objectives. The Program Associate will also be responsible for supporting outreach and communication activities as required for the Pendeba projects.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Develop and plan proper project components that are in line with the Pendeba Program’s overall approaches and objectives;
2) Help implement and manage training and other community development projects in QNNP;
3) Coordinate with project partners and training organizations on the technical and logistical aspects;
4) Conduct primary and secondary research on sustainable rural development, environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation for the Pendeba Program;
5) Liaise and network with partners, including government, private sector, and individuals, as well as other like-minded NGOs for project implementation and outreach objectives;
6) Produce high quality and timely reports on activities, finances and other areas as required;
7) To undertake any other tasks, as appropriate to the post, assigned by the Project Coordinator of Pendeba Program
Qualifications:
