The China for a Global Shift Initiative is WWF’s response to this opportunity. This global Initiative strives to work with China and its partner countries to show how economic development and an increased quality of life can be achieved within the ecological limits of one planet, while allowing space for developing countries to grow.

The Initiative Strategy is articulated around four key objectives:
1)        Promoting a footprint policy framework in China
2)        Supporting sustainable finance
3)        Driving responsible trade
4)  Mainstreaming innovative products and services

Background
Over the past 30 years of reform and opening to the outside world, China has become one of the largest economies on earth and the way it develops will significantly shape the future of the global economy. The Chinese government has recently set out ambitious targets for improved resource efficiency and sustainability. This brings about an unprecedented opportunity for the global community to support and influence the way in which China implements these goals.

Major Functions:
·        Contribute to the further development and roll-out of the communications strategy for the China for a Global Shift Initiative
·        Responsible for the implementation of the communications strategy focusing particularly on China together with partners, thematic, field and communication staff and in collaboration with the WWF network
·        Develop communications materials on relevant policy issues targeting Chinese audiences, partner countries and the WWF Network.

Responsibilities:
·        Engage target audiences and key stakeholders, with a focus on Chinese speaking audiences, and increase awareness of China for a Global Shift issues, bridging geographic and linguistic differences when necessary
·        Develop communication activities together with partners, thematic and field staff and in collaboration with the communications team and the WWF network
·        Prepare communications materials and provide regular updates on relevant policy issues to Chinese audiences, partner countries and the WWF Network
·        Prepare bulletin, newsletters, news releases, opinion editorials, statements, Q&A, fact sheets about the Initiative both in English and in Chinese
·        Contribute to WWF websites and to the development of new online tools
·        Organize communications events
·        Monitor and analyse information related to the Initiative, such as media coverage, videos, photos, slides and distribute them promptly
·        Fulfil other related tasks as required by the supervisor and WWF China.

Requirements:
·        Preferably 2 years working experience in journalism or communications
·        An advanced university degree in a relevant discipline
·        Creative, proactive, innovative and result-oriented personality with good communication skills
·        Excellent English writing, speaking and reading skills
·        Excellent Chinese skills
·        Political acumen
·        Positive attitude and good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team to achieve common goals, ability to work hard and meet deadlines
·        Experience on communicating about sustainability an asset
·        Willingness to move into new areas, learning, and proactively pushing own boundaries to pursue common goals within a diversified working environment
·        Commitment to the WWF mission and belief in WWF values, which are: passionate, optimistic, challenging, inspiring, credible, accountable, persevering and delivering results  

Working relationships:

a)        Internal:
Work closely with the Advocacy and Communications Director, Initiative Leader and other staff of the Initiative as well as with the Communications Department and teams in WWF China offices; regular contact with WWF Network communication teams in related programme offices, and with staff in other programmes as needed.

b)        External:
Contacts with partners and communications agencies mostly in China, and others as required.
