招聘启事（美国）国家地理水与空气保护基金中国项目官员

        （美国）国家地理学会自创立至今的一个多世纪里，始终致力于支持开创性研究和全球生物资源保护领域项目。如今该学会希望通过一个更有针对性的资助项目，扩大在中国的资助范围。这个全新的（美国）国家地理水与空气保护基金将用于支持中国的科技人才，探索创新性途径，以解决中国水资源和空气质量问题。

        该项目现需招聘驻北京项目官员一名，主要负责（美国）国家地理水与空气保护基金在中国大陆地区的执行策划，并监督项目的日常运营。项目官员直接向驻北京的项目特别顾问汇报工作，并与美国华盛顿总部，负责“研究、保护和探索”部门的副总裁及其团队密切协作。

        项目官员将协助评审委员会负责基金项目申请的初审和筛选，并确保项目所有申请及时并完整处理。另外，项目官员将在评审委员会例会期间提供行政后勤支持，协调委员会成员、项目申请人、资金承授人、专业团体，以及国家地理学会内部各部门之间的工作。

        项目官员将代表项目基金，出席各类宣传活动，并寻找项目推广的新渠道。同时，项目官员需有针对性地与国家地理学会内外各团体保持良好关系，并建立机制，与社会各合作团体间分享项目信息。其职责包括：根据项目评审标准，以及国家地理学会基金创立的愿景和使命，对项目申请书进行初步的筛选；准备委员会例会演示文档，按要求准备和参与评审例会，并在会后及时跟进。项目官员将与项目特别顾问及国家地理学会负责媒体工作的代表一起，挑选具有潜在媒体关注力的项目，提升基金整体的影响力和社会知晓度。

※理科专业背景，硕士或博士学位优先考虑，并有三到五年相关工作经验。
※了解中国水资源和空气质量相关的环境保护议题。
※熟悉实地调研和相关出版物者优先考虑。

PROGRAM OFFICER –

THE NATONAL GEOGRAPHIC

AIR AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND

Building on its century-long legacy of funding groundbreaking research and vital conservation worldwide, National Geographic is expanding its grant making in China through a targeted grant program. With Alibaba Group as its founding partner, The National Geographic Air and Water Conservation Fund will support the field research of Chinese scientists who are exploring new solutions to water and air quality issues.   

A Program Officer is sought who will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the grant program in Beijing. The PO will report to the program’s Special Advisor (Beijing) and work in close collaboration with the Vice President of Research, Conservation and Exploration and his team in Washington DC.

The PO reviews and approves preliminary grant requests in collaboration with the program’s review committees and ensures consistent and timely processing of full applications for the program. She/he will assist in providing logistical support for review committee’s meetings and serve as liaison for the review committee members, applicants, grantees, professional organizations, and internal NGS divisions.

The PO will represent the grants program at relevant events and promotional activities and seek out new avenues for undiscovered grantees. She/he will build targeted relationships with internal and external constituents and develop and implement mechanisms to share program information with key partners and other NG divisions.  Responsibilities include screening pre-proposals for funding based on grant program’s criteria and consistency with the Fund and NGS mission goals, preparing applications for presentation to review committees and supporting, preparing for, attending, and following-up review committee meetings as necessary. The PO will work with the Special Advisor and NGS media representatives to elevate or highlight projects with good media potential.  

The ideal candidate will possess the following:  
Degree in a scientific discipline required, MS or Ph.D, preferred, plus 3-5 years work experience in a related field.
Knowledge of air and water conservation issues in China.  
Experience with original field research and publications, preferred.
Bilingual in English and Chinese, experience in translating of scientific documents from Chinese to English preferred.
Experience with grant management and related outreach.
