WWF, the global conservation organization that has been working in China for 31 years, is looking for a highly skilled professional to be Director of Climate and Energy Programme for WWF China Office to be based in Beijing. This position will report to Deputy Country Representative and cooperate with staff from related departments and programmes within WWF CPO. Director of Climate and Energy Programme (Beijing) 气候与能源项目主任 (北京) I. Mission of the Department: By 2050, equitable low-carbon, climate-resilient development is the basis of the Chinese society and economy and thus makes a significant contribution to global efforts to ensure a safe and sustainable future for people, places and species. II. Major Functions: • Lead and direct the strategic development, high quality / impactful implementation, and enhance the influence of WWF China's Climate and Energy Programme; • Oversee the demonstration, policy research, and stakeholder engagement in promoting low carbon future and large scale up-taking of renewable energy in the market and in government policy; • Lead the implementation of WWF's Global Climate and Energy Initiative in China; • Facilitate government-business policy dialog through training for capacity building and tools such as Climate Savers and Climate Solver; • Represent WWF China C&E Programme with WWF GCEI, WWF network, government, industry leaders, as well as key supporters, partners and stakeholders; III. Major Duties and Responsibilities: • Overall responsibility for the Climate and Energy Programme's strategy development and review, as well as timely, quality and impactful implementation and delivery of WWF China's C&E Strategy > Manage and review the utilization of WWF China C&E Programme assets, resources and people to ensure optimum effectiveness and efficiency in all key areas – strategy, implementation (budgeting, execution, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting), project finance, people management, communication and fundraising; > Ensure the up-scaling of WWF China's efforts on low carbon and renewable energy development > Oversee the action research on the renewable energy to promote ambitious targets for China's renewable energy development and utilization • Responsible for the engagement with key internal and external stakeholders and partners • Build strong institutional partnerships with key stakeholders: WWF Network, government, international organizations, other non-governmental organizations, industry and public, to ensure strong profile of WWF China, C&E Programme and its activities; • Responsible for WWF China's effort on the input to the China's top decision making platform (e.g. the 13th Five Year Plan) and other means from climate and energy point of view • Ensure regular, effective and smooth communication with WWF network, to facilitate information sharing and leveraging changes in other countries in the race to the top • Provide effective leadership and line management for all staff members of the C&E Programme; > Effectively lead/coordinate/manage and develop the C&E team and support them in executing the strategy and managing talent and resources for the C&E programme; > Create a positive, engaging and creative thriving environment for staff; leading staff effectively through creation of a shared vision for C&E programme, ensuring all staff understand their contribution to that vision, professional development and performance management; > Ensure administrative, logistic, and operational support to the programme implementation • Overall liaison and relationship management with WWF network investors and external donors on C&E issues • Supporting fund raising efforts from other WWF offices and lead the extensional fund raising where appropriate • Represent WWF China C&E Programme with WWF Global Climate and Energy Initiative, WWF network, government, industry leaders, key supporters and key stakeholders; • Performs other duties as requested by the Deputy Country Representative or his/her delegate. IV. Profile: We are looking for a Chinese national for this position. Required Functional Skills: • Advanced University degree in Business Management, climate and energy related disciplines, and other related fields; • Demonstrated knowledge of issues and policies related to Climate Change and the role of developing countries. • Proven capability to lead and manage complex projects and programmes with at least seven years work experience in energy conservation with government agencies, international organizations, nongovernmental organizations, research institutions or private consulting firms. • Strong team management skills. Strong public profile particularly regarding climate change and energy issues • Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills, and a team player • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Mandarin and English.
