WWF, the global conservation organization that has been working in China for 27 years, is looking for a highly skilled professional to be a Programme Officer for the Species Programme in WWF China Programme Office to be based in Beijing.
This position will report to the Species Programme Director (SPD) and cooperate with staff from communications departments and project officers in WWF CPO related field offices.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement the Species Programme communication strategy for WWF China within the context of the conservation and ecoregion action plans, and ensure that this strategy supports Goals and Objectives of the WWF Global Species Programme and WWF China Conservation Strategy.
Communicate on the knowledge, news, stories, projects and activities and provide communication support and guidance to related WWF China field programmes.
Develop and maintain communication linkages between project executants, relevant NOs/POs, scientists and experts, and other relevant entities to facilitate consultation, information exchange and knowledge sharing;
Assist SPD to network with programme, policy and communications staff within WWF and key external partners to increase synergy and linkages between WWF's species conservation work and other conservation efforts, assimilate useful lessons from other programmes/action plans and vice versa, and garner necessary technical and funding support;
Organize, develop, and review project proposals for the continuation and expansion of the WWF China Species Programme and field species conservation programmes.
Under the guidance of the SPD, provide programmatic support to the implementation, monitoring and reporting of a portfolio of projects and activities.
Assist SPD to monitor the progress of projects and activities against the goals and targets, and prepare overview and summary reports and associated information;
Develop a comprehensive range of tools and materials for information, communications and campaigning on WWF's species conservation activities to increase success, public and professional support and awareness, and to aid fund-raising;
Under SPD’s direction, organize review and planning workshops every second or third year of the implementation of the Strategic Action Plan to assess progress of the projects and activities, exchange information and experiences, revisit and fine-tune objectives, priorities and implementation as necessary, and accordingly determine future directions;
Keep abreast with developments in the field of species conservation, and alert the Network on emerging issues and trends;
Qualifications Required:
Knowledge: Master's degree in conservation science or communications, preferably with a combination of both. A sound understanding of species-related conservation issues and knowledge of media communications.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience, priority with experience in writing conservation proposals, first hand conservation experience on big species in the field a distinct advantage. Hands-on experience in programme planning, project management and monitoring, as well as international conservation experience will be assets.
Skills and Abilities: Strong written and oral communication skills in English and preferably in Chinese as well. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people of diverse cultures essential. Creative, open-minded and strategic personality. Good working knowledge of computer and familiarity with the use of electronic media.
