Oxfam Hong Kong is a member of Oxfam International and an independent development and relief agency based in Hong Kong working with poor and disadvantaged people in Asia and Africa. We are recruiting the following member to join us in our anti-poverty work:
Communications Officer (Media) --China Unit
(Based in Bei Jing , 3-year contract) Main Areas of Responsibility:
1.
To develop and implement effective and innovative media strategies to support organizational objectives, programs, advocacy/campaign and communications work;
2.
To promote brand recognition, positive profiling and public support for OHK and its work through media activities;
3.
To assist program officers with necessary media/communications work around public events eg. press conferences, including media logistics and pushing specific stories to the press;
4.
To assist in writing, preparing and editing of press releases, external campaign materials, reports and other OHK’s publications targeting the media;
5.
To monitor the media trends, and to maintain an up-to-date list of media outlets and other related information of the media;
6.
To develop and maintain strong relationships with the media via eg. informal briefings and information provision;
7.
To undertake any other duties, as appropriate to the post, as delegated by the line manager.
Requirements:
1.
At least 2 years experiences working in media bodies, in particular, those related to international press;
2.
Degree in journalism/communications desirable;
3.
Excellent written and spoken both English and Chinese;
4.
English writing and editing experience desirable;
5.
Computer and internet skills, including desktop publishing and database search;
6.
Able to work constructively and collaboratively with team members;
7.
Able to work independently with high degree of initiative in pressurized environment;
8.
Proven interest in poverty and development work.
No expatriate package will be provided for the position
