WWF, the global conservation organization that has been working in China for 26 years, is looking for a highly skilled professional Consultant for the Yangtze Source Project
Position: Consultant for the Wetland Conservation Adapted to Climate Change in the Yangtze Source Area (referred to as the Yangtze Source Project), WWF China Programme Office
Location: Beijing
Reports to: Director of Freshwater Programme, and technically directed by the Director of Climate Change and Energy Programme
Duration: November 2006 – 30 June 2008

Major Function: As a full-time consultant of WWF China Programme Office, the Consultant is responsible for the management of the project “Wetland Conservation Adapted to Climate Change in the Yangtze Source Area” (referred to as “the Yangtze Source Project”).

Main Responsibilities:

develop workplan and budget for the Yangtze Source Project by the end of 2006;
deliver the workplan timely;
follow WWF project management procedure to prepare six-month Technical Report and Annual Technical Report for the Yangtze Source Project;
develop further the Yangtze Source Project and fundraise for it;
develop and maintain partnership with related stakeholders at national, provincial, and project sites levels;
communicate the project progresses and outcomes to the public, donors and WWF internal;
file related project documentations, including reports, flyers, photos etc.;
organize and host, if needed, donor’s visits and other field surveys.
provide project related assistances or other tasks as required by the supervisors.
Qualifications:
At least three years of working experience in related fields.
At least university degree of climate change, ecosystem/natural resource management, geography, environmental sciences and related subjects.
Experience of project management highly preferable.
ability to learn in a rapidly changing environment, and willingness to update professional knowledge and skills.
Proficient in English and Chinese, both writing and communication skills.
Ability to travel frequently to the project sites.
Ability to successfully interact and network with a wide range of people.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Knowledge on the use of computer.
Working Relationships
Internal: supervised by the Director of Freshwater Programme, and technically directed by the Director of Climate Change & Energy Programme; regular interaction with the Conservation Director Strategy, the Communications team, the Project Financial Officer, the M&E Officer, and the Project Development Officer.
External: regular contact with WWF Netherlands Project Manager, WWF International, and related financial staff.
