Oxfam Hong Kong is an independent development and humanitarian organization working against poverty and related injustice. We recognize that much poverty is caused by injustice and that poverty alleviation requires economic, social and structural change. We work with people facing poverty and with partner organizations on development, humanitarian, policy advocacy and public education programmes.
Oxfam's headquarters is located in Hong Kong SAR of the People's Republic of China, with offices in more than 10 cities around the world, implemented poverty alleviation and disaster relief work successively in more than 70 countries. " Working with people against poverty" is Oxfam's aims and objectives. Oxfam Hong Kong is a member of international confederation Oxfam.
We are recruiting the following member to join us in our anti-poverty work:
Communications Officer – Media
Policy & Campaigns Unit
(2-year contract based in Beijing)
A. Location: Based in Beijing Office
B. Responsible to: Manager - Communications
C. Relations with others:
The Communications Officer (Media) – Policy & Campaigns Unit is a member of the Communications Team in Policy & Campaigns Unit (PCU) and reports to the Manager – Communications, PCU. S/He is required to work closely with other Communications team members, and also members of other teams and units of Oxfam Hong Kong (OHK), especially the PCU Team based in Hong Kong.
D. Responsibilities:
1. Develop and deliver strategies for media work in Mainland China;
2. Promote brand recognition, positive profiling and public support for OHK and its work in the mainland China through media relations;
3. Provide media-related support to OHK’s programmes, advocacy/ campaign and communications work through media relations;
4. Be the main contact point for local and international media in Mainland China, monitor the media trends, and maintain an up-to-date list and other related information on medical for internal reference;
5. Undertake any other tasks as identified by the Communications Manager
E.Requirements:
1. Knowledge of NGO work in China
2. At least two years work experience in Chinese media
3. Strong interest in poverty relief and humanitarian work
4. Excellent written and spoken Chinese and English
5. Able to work in a team
6. Able to work independently with a high degree of initiative
7. Willing to travel
8. Identification with Oxfam’s mission and vision is highly desirable
9. Experience in risk management is highly desirable
No expatriate package will be provided for the position
