征文大赛：从华南地区看气候变化和环境保护

    许多人说到气候变化，都把它称之为人类当今面临的最大的挑战。人类活动对气候的影响, 可以从某个地区波及到世界任何地方，可见气候变化是一个全球性的挑战。因此，应对这个挑战需要更广泛的国际合作。然而,地方和个人的主动参与以及环保信息的宣传都能有助于扭转形势。

    中国和挪威在应对气候变化的问题上一向反应积极，在最近的哥本哈根联合国气候变化峰会上也表现活跃。为了了解华南地区的青年人对气候变化这一重要问题的观点和看法,挪威驻广州领事馆现正开展一个关于如何保护环境和解决气候问题的征文比赛，欢迎居住在广东、广西、福建和海南省的18至32岁的中国青年踊跃参与。
   
   参赛作者可以讲述自己的切身体会，包括当地的环境问题，并在文中以实例说明在华南地区可行的环保措施和建议。征文具体要求如下:

• 文章以英文写作
• 字数不超过1500字
• 在文章后写下简单的自我介绍和有效联系方式
• 请将文章以电子邮件形式发送至tormod@sina.com，标题写明 “Essay Competition”
• 征文截止日期为2010年4月15日

    参选文章将由挪威总领事馆设评审团评审，头奖一名，奖品是2010年秋季挪威游，获奖者将跟随一个中国考察团前往挪威奥斯陆参加以气候变化和环境保护为主题的各项活动。另外，我们将评选出前十名的优秀文章，作者将受邀参加挪威驻广州总领事官邸的颁奖晚宴。前十名的优秀文章也将在总领事馆博客上发表。

Essay Competition:

Climate Change and Protection of the Environment – A South Chinese Perspective

Many refer to climate change as the biggest challenge confronting mankind today. It is a global challenge because the consequences of climate change transcend borders – human actions in one country have consequences across the globe. Therefore – it is a challenge that needs to be resolved through international cooperation. However, local and individual initiative and the spreading of ideas can also improve the situation.

China and Norway both play active roles in international efforts to tackle climate change, lastly at the COP 15 summit in Copenhagen. Given the crucial importance of this issue, the Norwegian Consulate General in Guangzhou would like to learn more about the views of young people in South China. We invite Chinese nationals between 18 and 32 years of age residing in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian or Hainan to participate in an essay competition on how to protect our common environment and climate.

We encourage participants to describe their local perspective both of the effects of environmental problems and concrete examples of methods and ideas about protecting the environment in South China.

• The essay must be written in English.
• It should consist of no more than 1500 words.
• Add a short paragraph about yourself, including personal contact information, below the essay.
• Send you essay to tormod@sina.com with “Essay competition” in the subject line.
• Deadline for submission is April 15 2010.

The essays will be reviewed by a jury established by the Norwegian Consulate General. The first prize is a trip to Norway in the autumn of 2010! The winner will participate in a group delegation on a study tour to Oslo with climate change and the environment as the main topic.
In addition, the authors of the top ten contributions will be invited to a dinner at the Norwegian Consul General’s home. We also wish to publish the top ten contributions on the Consulate’s blog.
