WWF, the global conservation organization, is seeking a highly experienced Country Representative for the WWF China Programme Office be based in Beijing, China. The Country Representative leads and directs the vision, strategic planning, operations and future development of WWF China Programme Office and the management of its staff, assets and resources to ensure the achievement of strategic objectives and the continued growth of the organization. In addition, the incumbent will manage WWF s relationships at the highest organizational level with its key partners in and outside China.
The key requirements are:
proven ability to lead a complex, national or multi-national multi-site organization;
knowledge and experience of the not-for-profit sector, preferably of environmental non- government organisations;
outstanding leadership and people management skills to build and lead enthusiastic, goal oriented teams;
superior knowledge and experience of financial management, corporate governance and risk management;
demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating strategic plans;
credibility as a recognised expert and leader in Conservation in and beyond China;
high level negotiation and influencing skills and the capacity to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels in the business, not-for-profit, scientific and political communities;
superior oral and written communication skills in Mandarin and English; and interpersonal skills including the ability to represent an organisation at a range of local and fora, in the media and with the general public;
appropriate tertiary qualifications in science, management, finance or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience.

Major Functions:
The Country Representative leads and directs the vision, strategic planning, operations and future development of WWF China Programme Office and the management of its staff, assets and resources to ensure the achievement of strategic objectives and the continued viability and growth of the organisation. The Country Representative leads and manages WWF’s relationships at the highest organisational level with its key partners in and outside China to ensure optimal communication and mutually beneficial relationships. The Country Representative leads Conservation, Marketing, Communications, Finance and Operations functions and line manages each member of the Senior Management Team.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Provide overall direction and leadership to WWF China PO to ensure the organisation achieves its strategic objectives as defined in its Conservation and Business Plans;
Manage and review the utilisation of WWF China PO assets, resources and people to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness;
Provide quality analysis, reports and evaluations to Director Asia Pacific Programme relating to the WWF China PO Annual Plan and Budgets, policies, activities and performance to ensure WWF China PO is efficient and maximises opportunities;
Represent WWF China PO with WWF network, government, industry leaders, key supporters and key stakeholders;
Oversee timely operational and programmatic monitoring and reporting of audits to measure and report on WWF China PO performance
Ensure compliance with the organisation’s policies on financial management;
Lead, direct and develop staff through effective performance management to motivate the achievement of results consistent with agreed objectives so as to ensure a safe, healthy and ethical workplace;
Ensure the organisation’s activities comply with relevant Acts, legal requirements and ethical standards;
Ensures the compliance of WWF China PO with WWF International and agreed WWF Network policies, standards and procedures;
Ensure effective communications and partnerships with WWF Network, government, international organisations, other non-governmental organisations, industry and public to ensure strong profile of WWF China PO and its activities
Lead regional and international attention to WWF China Po’s important conservation programmes and partnerships, and influence policies and best practices for WWF’s global conservation programmes
Provide leadership to the Senior Management Team of WWF China PO.
Contribute to leadership of WWF China PO in the WWF Network sphere.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
Proven capability to lead a complex, national or multi-national multi-site organisation;
Proven knowledge and experience of the not-for-profit sector, preferably of environmental non- government organisations;
Superior knowledge and experience of financial management, corporate governance and risk management with responsibility for budgets in excess US$5 million;
A proven leader with the capability of growing an organisation’s impact;
Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating strategic plans;
Proven knowledge and experience managing, motivating and improving the performance of a team of people in a values driven, supporter dependent environment;
Credibility as a recognised expert and leader in Conservation in and beyond China;
Superior oral and written communication skills in Mandarin and English; and interpersonal skills including the ability to represent an organisation at a range of local and fora, in the media and with the general public;
Superior leadership and people management skills to build and lead enthusiastic, goal oriented teams

Qualifications
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in science, management, finance or other relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsible for the selection, training, development, supervision, evaluation and remuneration of all WWF staff working for the WWF China Programme Office.
Working Relationships:
Internal: Interacts with WWF staff on a daily basis, as required. Co-ordinates and interacts with WWF Home Office and Network staff as appropriate.
External: Interacts with in-country governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, the media and donors. |
