Marine Program Manager
Position:
Conservation International is looking for a Program Manager for its Marine Program of Beijing Representative Office, specifically focus on field marine program’s daily management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. The position will be based in Beijing with about 1/3 travel time.
Scope of Work:
She/he will be responsible for the daily management and implementation of CI China’s marine program. She/he will report to and work closely with the China Program Director, the Operation Director and the field program team, to assist Program Director on daily marine project management, assessment and evaluation, and providing technical support to all relevant marine projects in the field. She/he will liaison with CI Global Marine Department to design, plan and implement CI institutional marine conservation outcomes in China. She/he will work closely with CI partners including governmental agencies, protected area management authorities and research institutions to implement CI’s marine conservation projects. She/he will supervise project coordinators and program assistants in the marine programs, and work with field office managers to ensure the effectiveness of the management of China marine program.
Qualifications:
Motivated with a commitment to CI’s missions in China
Excellent knowledge of key marine conservation issues in China
Master’s degree or above on marine biological or environmental sciences or in a related field preferred
At least 5 years working experience in marine related research or management field
Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English with both excellent verbal and written abilities
Effective interpersonal communication skills. Able to communicate with people at different levels.
Ability to manage time, handle pressure and meet deadlines, whilst remaining flexible
Proficiency in computer and Chinese/English language word processing
Field work and project management experience is a plus, able to travel with short notice
Main Tasks and Duties:
Provide facilitation to CI local partners, and manage CI marine programs to ensure efficient execution of related marine projects in China
Investigate, research and implement marine conservation projects generated by CI China
Capacity to analyze and maintain the CI China marine database
Be responsible for CI marine program’s daily management
Provide assistance to the China Program Director and the Operation Director, as well as CI global marine team on the most effective means of implementation of CI’s marine projects in China
Salary
