@FFI-中国 FFI中国灵长类保护项目招聘项目经理1名。工作地点可选择南宁、北京或云南。截止日期2012年2月15日。
Background:
Fauna and Flora International (FFI) is the world’s longest-established international conservation organization, founded in 1903, when a group of British and American naturalists in Africa founded what was then called the “Society for the Preservation of the Wild Fauna of the Empire”. It later played an important role in creating some of the world’s largest conservation organisations, including the World Conservation Union (IUCN) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). FFI is a proven conservation innovator which continues to make a lasting impact on global biodiversity. Today FFI is active in over 40 countries and has its headquarters in Cambridge, UK.
FFI’s mission is to create a sustainable future for the planet where biodiversity is conserved by the people living closest to it. To realise this we conserve threatened species and ecosystems worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and take account of human needs. Our three key objectives are to i) Secure the future of key threatened habitats and species; ii) Address the root causes of biodiversity loss; iii) Help others deliver conservation gains. FFI Asia Pacific Programme currently includes a broad range of species and landscape targeted conservation initiatives in Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar, and has its regional office in Singapore.
FFI has been active in China since 1999 and registered in Guangxi in 2008. The objective of the FFI China Country Programme is to conserve threatened species and ecosystems through strategic partnerships with local government agencies, scientific institutions and community groups. FFI China is currently working with local partners to protect endangered primate and tree species, to manage alpine grassland on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau in a sustainable way, and to mainstream biodiversity into regional socio-economic development in the western China. With its headquarters in Nanning, FFI China has existing projects in Guangxi, Yunnan, Qinghai, Sichuan, Hainan and Chongqing, with four offices in Nanning, Chengdu, Jingdong and Beijing.
FFI China Primate Conservation Programme started from 2002 and are conserving Eastern black crested gibbon, Hainan gibbon, Western black crested gibbon, Eastern Hoolock Gibbon, Francois langur and critically endangered snub-nosed monkeys in China. By conserving primate as flagship species we are able to protect related forest ecosystems and other biodiversity in that area.
